Borough Park B.C.

The club was formed in 1926 and is affiliated to the E.B.A., E.W.B.A., E.I.B.A. and E.W.I.B.A. and the county associations. It is now, in terms of membership, the largest outdoor bowling club in Yorkshire.
The original Redcar Borough Park B.C. was a men only club playing on council greens and operating from accommodation within Borough Park. It is now an amalgamation of the original club and bowlers from the Redcar East Community Association.
The present clubhouse was built in the 1980's on land that the members had the foresight to purchase from Redcar Racecourse. The four rink indoor facility was added in 1996 with the help of a grant of some 45% of the cost from the English Sports Council Lottery Fund. The land and facilities are now worth about half a million pounds.
The club continues to be run on an almost entirely voluntary basis which is a tribute to the hard work and dedication of a number of the members. By developing the way it has, the club has tried to retain a family atmosphere and become an integral part of the community which can be enjoyed by both bowlers and social members on an equal basis.
The club uses two 6 rink outdoor bowling greens, leased from and operated in partnership with Redcar and Cleveland  Borough Council.

For the 2006 season we are playing at Cochranes Club.

Due to a number of departures and deaths we are at the moment struggling to maintain an adequate bowling strength to fulfill our fixtures particularly in the NYEBA League. We also play in the Middlesbrough League and the South Durham and North Yorks Works League and would welcome any new bowling members.

Prior to the opening of our Green in 2007 it is not necessary for our bowlers to be members of the Jack Hatfield Sports Club Ltd but it is necessary to become a member of Cochranes Club.

Our Fees this year are £15.00 which includes membership of Cochranes for one year, and payment is made for each game played, at the same rate as paid by members of Cochranes Bowling Section.

When we finally return to our Green we anticipate that we will build up our Bowling Membership so watch this space.

Thornaby B.C.

Thornaby Village B.C.

Thornaby Village Bowling Club is one of two Bowling Clubs in Thornaby. Our club is situated in Thornaby Village Park on Thorntree Road, Thornaby-on-Tees, Cleveland (near Thornaby town centre and fire station), approximately two miles south-east of Stockton-on-Tees and four miles west of the centre of Middlesbrough and has easy access to both the A19 and the A66.

The club was formed in 1935 and was a council managed facility until 1998. During this period the club produced some very fine bowlers, both male and female. In 1998 a change in council policies gave us the option for members to take on the management of the club, and after serious consideration by the members it was agreed to go ahead with this proposal. The decision was not taken lightly, but has proved to be the correct decision.

New members would be made most welcome, or indeed if you would like to visit our club for a friendly game of bowls and a chat, come along and meet us any time between May and September, you won't be disappointed.
